Manitou presente trois interpretations midrashiques de 'Vayi ahar advarim ha-elek' : suite a l'alliance avec Abimelech, suite aux propos du Satan (parallele avec Job), et suite au defi d'Ismael a Isaac sur la circoncision. Il souleve la difficulte exegetique du texte qui revele d'emblee qu'il s'agit d'une epreuve.
