Manitou introduit la paracha Lekh Lekha. Abraham arrive en Canaan accompagne de Lot. Trois promesses lui sont faites : descendance, terre de Canaan (terre des Hebreux de son nom originel), et benediction universelle. La premiere etape est Shekhem, ville qui jouera un role crucial dans l'histoire d'Israel. Le verset precise que le Cananeen etait alors dans le pays comme occupant.
